While working on a treadmill can be an effective way to lose weight, it also cause injuries which may cripple a person for life. Overweight people should not work on a treadmill, they should start by walking and only later start  exercising on a treadmill.

 

Tips to avoid treadmill injuries

1.  Walk and run upright

 

2. The treadmill machine should have an emergency shut off

 

3. The belt of  the treadmill machine should be at least 18-20 inches wide and 48 inches long

 

4. Do not slouch while exercising, so that you breath efficiently

 

5. Look straight ahead and the back should be perpendicular to the ground

 

6. Concentrate while getting on and off the treadmill
